STEEL DECK ON COLD-FORMED STEEL FRAMING WEBINAR

Presented by Thomas Sputo, Ph.D., PE, SE, SECB
Steel Deck Institute

December 19, 2019 - 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time

Steel DeckThe Steel Deck Institute (SDI) Steel Deck on Cold-Formed Steel Framing Manual is the first design manual that specifically focuses on how to integrate steel roof and floor deck with cold-formed steel roof and floor framing.  The Manual contains content on the general uses of steel deck on roofs and floors, and provides specific guidance on how to successfully integrate the deck into the overall design.  Guidance is provided, with details for specific framing conditions.  The Manual contains 8 design examples that illustrate the use of steel deck on floors, and gable and hip roofs.  Additionally, the Manual contains diaphragm tables for deck on floors and roofs, developed in accordance with the AISI S310 diaphragm standard.  This session will also demonstrate the SDI Diaphragm Design Tool that provides diaphragm designs for combined diaphragm shear and wind uplift on roofs. You will leave this session with a greater understanding of how to use steel deck on floors and roofs.

Three Main Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about the differences between using steel deck on hot-rolled and cold-formed steel framing
  2. Learn how to properly detail steel deck on cold formed steel framing.
  3. Learn how to design steel deck diaphragms for combined shear and wind uplift.
