CFSEI AWARDS PROGRAMThe purpose of the CFSEI Awards Program is to publicly acknowledge outstanding achievement in creative design, technical innovation, and best practices in the use of cold-formed steel and to publicly acknowledge individuals who have volunteered their time and talent to the cold-formed steel industry. CFSEI offers three award categories as follows: AWARD CATEGORY I - DESIGN EXCELLENCE
Design Excellence: Projects that exemplify excellence in the structural design of new or renovated structures utilizing CFS products. Awards are given to eligible projects at the discretion of the Awards Committee regardless of the total number of projects submitted. JUDGING CRITERIAEntries are judged on demonstrated excellence and achievement in the use of cold-formed steel based on the following criteria:
DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERSAWARD CATEGORY II - INNOVATIVE DETAIL
Innovative Detail: Any cold-formed steel framing detail that exemplifies creativity or ingenuity to solve a design challenge. Participants must submit a single engineered detail along with a brief summary outlining how the detail was used to resolve the design challenge. Submission of additional support documentation (such as calculations or design criteria) is encouraged but not required. Awards are presented for an eligible engineered detail at the discretion of the Awards Committee regardless of the total number of entries submitted. In addition to the award, winner(s) receive one free CFSEI membership and the opportunity to conduct a 10-minute presentation at CFSEI Expo. CFSEI also share information about the winning entries on the website and with construction media/social media outlets. JUDGING CRITERIAEntries are judged on ability to solve a cold-formed steel design challenge based on the following criteria:
CREATIVE DETAIL AWARD WINNERS
AWARD CATEGORY III - DISTINGUISHED SERVICECFSEI’s Distinguished Service Award was renamed in 2016 to honor John P. Matsen, P.E., founder and principal of Matsen Ford Design Associates in Waukesha, Wisconsin, who passed away in June 2015. Distinguished Service: To acknowledge the contributions of an individual who has volunteered their time, talent, and resources to the CFS industry. One John P. Matsen Award for Distinguished Service Award will be given. JUDGING CRITERIAJudging criteria for the Distinguished Service Award are based on the following criteria: Testimonial of the nominator to include contribution by individual to advance cold-formed steel in the marketplace.Distinguished Service Award recipient is selected by CFSEI Executive Committee.
