2019 CFSEI JOHN P. MATSEN AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE WINNER
“Steve is an ‘out of the box’ cold-formed steel thinker and problem solver known for his creativity in working with retrofit projects and for unselfishly sharing his knowledge and experience with the cold-formed steel community,” said Maribeth Rizzuto, LEED AP – BD+C, managing director of the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute. “He was influential in the early development of several cold-formed steel framing standards. He was also the initiator of the CFSEI Technical Notes series, which has become a primary source for educating engineers on the many facets of cold-formed steel design.” Steven Walker, P.E., has been involved with the design of cold-formed steel framing for more than 30 years. He was the founder and principal of the Light Gauge Steel Engineering Group, Inc. His experience with cold-formed steel framing includes consulting for product manufacturers, the design of specialty accessories and clips, forensic investigations, structural repair and remediation, and loadbearing cold-formed steel multi-story structural design. He has served on the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Committee on Specifications (COS) and Committee on Framing Standards (COFS), and was a board member of CFSEI from 2005-2006 during its transitional phase from the Light Gauge Steel Engineers Association. Steven served on the CFSEI Task Group to implement cold-formed steel engineer certification and on the AISI Task Group for the Code of Standard Practice for the Cold-Formed Steel Structural Framing Industry. He implemented CFSEI’s Technical Notes series as a means to educate engineers on the various facets of cold-formed steel design. |
